HKICPA Business Case Competition

The HKICPA Business Case Competition, running for over two decades, invites tertiary students across mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau to showcase their academic and business acumen by solving real-world challenges. The competition not only tests their theoretical competencies but also enhances their professional judgment and global perspectives. With a focus on the digital entertainment industry for this year, the competition offers students a platform to gain new insights and expand their professional toolkit.

• Prize Type: Cash, QP Fee Waivers, Internship Opportunities
• Prize Amount: Up to HK$10,000 cash prize for champions, with various cash prizes and waivers for other winners
• Eligible Candidates: Sub-degree or undergraduate students from any discipline at tertiary institutions in Hong Kong
• Online/In-Person: Both (Written proposal submission online, Final round oral presentation in-person)

The competition’s business case study zeroes in on the digital entertainment industry, challenging students to apply their academic knowledge and business know-how to solve real-life challenges, thereby honing their professional judgment and global perspectives.

Winning teams are awarded attractive cash prizes, waivers of QP application fee and student annual fee, and gain internship opportunities to boost their CVs. The champion team from the Hong Kong sub-degree and undergraduate groups can win a cash prize of HK$10,000, QP fees waiver, trophy, medal, and certificate.

• First Round: Submit a 15-page business proposal in English, including a max 3-page executive summary.
• Second Round: 60 teams (30 each from HK sub-degree and undergraduate group) will be shortlisted for review.
• Final Round: 12 finalist teams will give an oral presentation based on their written proposals.

Sub-degree or undergraduate students from any discipline at tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, including both QP Affiliate Club members and non-members, are welcome. Non-members will automatically become a member of the QP Affiliate Club for free upon competition registration.

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has been organizing the Business Case Competition for over 20 years, providing a platform for tertiary students from various educational backgrounds to showcase their academic and business prowess. The competition has garnered immense support, receiving around 1700 students and 423 business proposals from approximately 70 institutions in 2022.
