🚀 SDSU International Business Program - Case Competition

📅 When? October 19-21, 2023

📍 Where? San Diego State University Campus

🎓 Who’s Invited? Undergraduate business students from various universities, forming teams of four, each accompanied by an adviser (Professor or staff). Note: Only one team per university is allowed, and no graduate students or alternates will be permitted.

💸 Fee: A non-refundable fee of $300 is required for university registration.

📜 The Challenge: Teams will have a tight 24 hours to whip up a 15-minute presentation, delivered via PowerPoint. Once submitted, no alterations can be made to the presentation. The competition consists of two rounds: an initial round with teams grouped in cohorts of 3-4 teams, and a final round for the top-performing teams from the first round.

🕒 Format:

  • Presentation: 15 minutes
  • Judges Q & A: 10 minutes

🚫 Rules to Note:

  • Teams are expected to adhere to competition rules and uphold the highest standards of honesty and professionalism.
  • Teams will be assigned a name for use throughout the competition and must not disclose their home university to judges.
  • Universities are responsible for arranging hotel accommodations (through team hotel), flights, and transportation during the competition for their teams.
  • Advisers are not permitted to assist teams with presentations and should avoid interacting with their team from the time of case distribution until the team is no longer in competition. However, advisers can attend all presentations during the competition.
  • Registration should be completed by a university staff or faculty member.

📝 Example Schedule:

  • Thursday: Welcome Dinner at 6 pm at Team Hotel, where the competition kicks off. All teams must be present, and the case is distributed to teams at the end of dinner.
  • Friday: Teams work on their presentations and submit via email by a designated deadline. Advisers are free to explore San Diego.
  • Saturday: Competition runs from 9 am-3 pm at the San Diego State Campus, followed by an Awards Dinner at 6 pm at a selected restaurant in San Diego.
